Where to Find Free Anger Management Classes
Anger is an issue that affects most everyone at some point in their lives. It is a normal part of being human, and can even be beneficial. On the other hand, anger can also be a real problem for those who cannot control the frequency, duration or method of expressing this emotion. Luckily there are free anger management classes out there that can help you cope with and manage chronic anger and rage.
The first place to look for such free classes is at your local community center. There are often seminars and classes held that are free of charge, especially when they relate to skills that can be helpful for parents and families. If you cannot find a free course there, check with your local Department of Social Services. They will often be able to refer you to plenty of free events and classes such as those dealing with anger management. Even your local medical clinic or hospital may hold such seminars free of charge.
If you cannot find any classes, the next step is to consider teaching yourself. There are ways for a motivated individual to do so. For example, try renting some books from your local library on the subject of anger management. There are lots of them out there, written by qualified professionals. Two good titles to consider are The Anger Workbook by Drs. Les Carter and Frank Minirth and Anger Work: How to Express Your Anger and Still be Kind by Robert E. Puff. These are only two choices, there are many more titles lining the shelves of libraries and bookstores that you may want to consider. Many of these books contain helpful worksheets that you can photocopy and use to work through your issues.
Books such as these can be used in conjunction with free anger management classes. You may even want to combine such strategies with traditional psychotherapy. The management of anger is something that can improve your life and make a positive difference in your relationships with others. When you exhibit explosive anger, you hurt those around you and you hurt yourself. The harm is not just emotional in nature, but physical as well. Inappropriately expressed anger may lead to medical problems, especially if it is chronic in nature. Therefore, getting help can benefit you and those around you in many ways.
